What are the risks of postponing aortic stenosis surgery? Show summary
Aortic stenosis occurs when the valve of a heart becomes thickened and constricts blood flow. One otherwise-healthy patient with aortic stenosis was told he needed surgery but he refused to undergo surgery. This same patient later went into shock from an unrelated infection. Unfortunately his stenosis made it impossible for his body to deliver adequate blood and he could not be saved.
